Outlander's most recent episode featured various explosive scenes at a historic American stronghold. And despite Fort Ticonderoga being a real US landmark, the filming for the show took place in a unique Scottish village, reports the Scottish Daily Express.
The seventh season of the time-travelling drama has received impressive reviews from fans already, and its fifth episode did not disappoint. Titled 'Singapore', the episode featured Jamie and Claire Fraser helping to defend Fort Ticonderoga from a British attack.
In the 1700s, Fort Ticonderoga was actually based in upstate New York and is now a museum which provides tours and information about the American Revolution.

But the scenes were shot much closer to home, with the production set up at Duncarron Medieval Village in Carron Valley, Stirlingshire, around 45 minutes' drive from Glasgow.
It is a modern reconstruction of a fortified village from the early Middle Ages in Scotland, aimed to represent a typical residence of a Scottish Clan Chief.

It is also looked after by the Clanranald Trust for Scotland and has close links to Gladiator superstar Russell Crowe, who presented the village with a battering ram from his film Robin Hood. Visitors can see the unique gift exhibited in Duncarron.
The medieval village is also a tourist attraction and fans of the Starz show will be able to visit and look at where Claire and Jamie Fraser, played by Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, fought during the current series.

It is also likely to be the last time the show is set there as the Americans are defeated and forced to flee, with Jamie and Claire watching the Fort burn from a distance.
Outlander fans praised the latest episode of the show. Nicole wrote: "This season is the first one we’ve seen with scenes that don’t always feature at least one of our four leads, and it’s definitely going to be weird for a while. I’m loving it so far though. It’s not easy to split an hour amongst so many plot lines?

And Rebecca Gooden added: "I am obsessed with the Frasers, but I am loving the fresh new characters that we are getting added into the show. And then it’s fun when the new characters' storylines meet up with the Frasers."
